The recent proclamation of several Basque towns as 'Smart Tourist Destinations' (DTI) marks an important milestone in tourism in the Basque Country, this recognition announced at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), is the result of a collaborative effort led by Basquetour and Segittur, Bidasoa, Bilbao, Busturialdea-Urdaibai, Debagoiena, Getxo and Valles Alaveses now stand out not only for its beauty and cultural heritage, but also for its commitment to innovation, technology, sustainability, accessibility and governance.

Since Bilbao joined the network of Smart Tourist Destinations In 2019, the city has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in the tourism sector.
