Nearly 40.000 people in Bilbao

FC Barcelona is preparing to live a historic moment in San Mamés, not only for the possibility of lifting its third Champions League, but for the impressive movement of nearly 40.000 Blaugrana fans to Bilbao. This event marks a precedent in women's football and is comparable to some of the most emblematic trips of the men's team, such as the 50.000 fans who traveled to Seville in 1986 for the European Cup final against Steaua Bucharest, or the most of 30.000 who were in Basel for the 1979 Cup Winners' Cup.

Massive expectation in San Mamés

The geographical proximity between Barcelona and Bilbao, the large capacity of the San Mamés stadium with more than 53.000 seats, and the excellent sporting moment of Barça, which aspires to a historic poker of titles, have motivated the fans to respond en masse. Tickets and hotels have been sold out for weeks, reflecting the great expectation generated by this final.

FC Barcelona has organized an unprecedented logistical deployment, chartering 22 buses to transport more than 1.300 members to Bilbao. This logistical effort is added to the thousands of fans who will travel by train, plane and private vehicles, ensuring a Blaugrana tide in the city.

Comparison with historical displacements

This trip far exceeds the 1.200 fans who accompanied the team in its first European final in Budapest in 2019, and the 15.000 who traveled to Turin in 2022, although that time the team failed to win the title. Last year, around 10.000 fans traveled to Eindhoven, a small number due to the complexity of connections and the lower capacity of the stadium.

The motto “Movem Bilbao” encapsulates the spirit of the culé fans, which promises to color San Mamés with Blaugrana, with around two-thirds of the stadium occupied by Barça fans. UEFA sold out the first 25.000 tickets in a few minutes, and the same thing happened with the 9.625 tickets allocated to FC Barcelona.

A final with all the comforts

For the first time in the history of the Champions League, a fan zone will be installed for each fan. The FC Barcelona one will be in the Doña Casilda park, next to the San Mamés stadium. This area will be open from 10 in the morning on the day of the final, offering activities and musical entertainment. Fans who do not have a ticket will be able to follow the game on a giant screen installed in the fan zone.

UEFA will also organize a party on the San Mamés esplanade with activities and musical performances from early in the morning until late at night. This deployment ensures that both those present in the stadium and those in the fan zone have an unforgettable experience.

Preparations for a great Champions League final

The mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, has expressed his enthusiasm for hosting this historic event and has assured that the city is prepared to receive the large influx of fans. Security and logistics are carefully planned to ensure everything goes smoothly.

The mobilization of the Blaugrana fans to Bilbao not only stands out for the numbers, but also for the enthusiasm and passion that accompany each fan. This final promises to be a milestone not only for FC Barcelona, but also for women's football in general, consolidating the growing interest and support for this sport.
