Durango City Council launches 'Taxilagun' service for older people with mobility problems

The measure, demanded in the previous legislature by Herriaren Eskubidea through a motion that went unanimously, has a budget of 20.000 euros for 2020. The City Council will subsidize a maximum of 20 trips per person to the Landako and Herriko Gudarien health centers, as well as the Social Services on Bruno Mauricio Zabala street and the Municipal Center for the Elderly until the end of the year.

Municipal officials have highlighted that it is a pioneering service in Durangaldea, since in other towns they only transport older people who live in rural areas. In Durango, on the contrary, the trips are also for people who live in the urban center and have mobility problems.

Most disadvantaged groups

“It is an old request from the group of older people, so we are glad that we can respond to their requests. Little by little we are launching projects included in the Government Plan and which try to help the most disadvantaged groups”, explained members of the Government Team.
