ACCIONA Energía and IKEA have joined forces to promote sustainable mobility throughout Spain, by implementing numerous charging points for electric vehicles in IKEA stores.

More than 500 charging points throughout the country

The plan is to install 567 charging places for electric cars in 16 IKEA locations, including the central offices in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) and the logistics center in Valls (Tarragona). By the end of 2023, 475 of these charging points are expected to be fully operational, with the rest completed by 2026.

Most of the charging points will be available to the general public visiting IKEA stores. However, 30% of these points will be reserved for suppliers and the IKEA vehicle fleet.

Innovation in charging points

These charging points will not be ordinary. In addition to the fast charging (60kW) and normal charging (22kW) chargers, each location will have a two-way charging point with technology Vehicle to Grid (V2G). This revolutionary technology allows the vehicle battery to not only store power from the grid for its own use, but also to feed power back into the grid.

100% renewable energy

ACCIONA Energy will be in charge of the installation, operation, maintenance and customer service of the charging points. In addition, the electricity supplied will be 100% renewable, with certified traceability through GREENCHAIN®, ACCIONA Energy's platform based on Blockchain technology that allows tracking the renewable origin of the energy produced in real time.
