Pilot experience with mobile technology and new points of interest

This year, the guided visits to the galleries of Punta Begoña in Getxo will begin on May 5, but with important news. During this weekend, concerted groups will test the pilot experience, in which, in addition to the explanations of the guides, will be added for the first time the possibility of using the mobile phone to learn about the role of the history of this Getxo monument and its enclave through photos, videos and interviews. The objective is for these people to make their contributions as if it were a test prior to opening to the public.

Anecdotes and experiences in Punta Begoña

There will also be no lack of content with anecdotes and experiences that have taken place in a construction anchored in the flysch of the coast, which served as a refuge and hospital during the Civil War, was a military fort in the XNUMXth century and was built in an area where remains of a prehistoric human settlement have been found.

The evolution of the work and new points of interest

Explanations will be offered on "the evolution of the work", as pointed out by the City Council. Precisely, the progress of scientific restoration work will allow us to admire even 13 different points of this construction, some of them for the first time. One of them is 'the watchtower over the Abra', from which the magnate Horacio Echevarrieta contemplated his ships and the growing maritime traffic in the port of Bilbao, in a Bizkaia immersed in strong industrial growth at the dawn of the XNUMXth century. Throughout the year, the galleries will also host cultural activities such as exhibitions and so on.

Schedules, prices and reservations for the experience in Punta Begoña

The general public will be able to participate in this innovative experience on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (12:00, 17:00 and 17:30). The 60-minute tours will be offered in Basque and Spanish. The entrance will cost two euros for those over 10 years of age because children under that age can enter for free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. People who wish to make prior reservations can do so on the web www.puntabegonagetxo.eus.

Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this unique experience in the galleries of Punta Begoña and immerse yourself in the history, anecdotes and news that this emblematic place in Getxo has to offer!
