The PNV maintains its leadership in the General Meetings of Bizkaia despite the rise of EH Bildu

Evolution on the Basque political board

Although the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) has once again prevailed in the elections to the General Meetings of Bizkaia, the jeltzale formation has observed how its support in the territory has diminished. With 98% of the votes counted, the PNV has obtained 38% of the votes, five points less than in the previous elections, and has won 22 seats, three less than in the last legislature. The formation led by Elixabete Etxanobe will have to face the reduction of its distance with EH Bildu, which has established itself as the second force in Bizkaia.

EH Bildu: Second force and on the rise

EH Bildu has managed to establish itself as the second political force in the General Meetings of Bizkaia, increasing its presence both in terms of votes and seats. The coalition, headed by Iker Casanova, has obtained 24% of the votes, five points more than in the previous elections, and will have 15 junteros, which represents an increase of five seats compared to the last legislature.

PSE-EE: stability and slight advance

In turn, the Socialist Party of Euskadi-Euskadiko Ezkerra (PSE-EE) it remains the third political force in the historical territory of Bizkaia. Although it has maintained its percentage of votes at 16%, it has managed to win an additional seat, going from 8 to 9 representatives in the General Meetings of Bizkaia.

Movements on the right and loss of strength by Elkarrekin

In the block on the right, the Partido Popular has increased its representation by two points, getting 8% of the votes and adding one more seat to his account, for a total of 3 seats. With this result, the Popular Party surpasses Elkarrekin in fourth place in the political ranking of Bizkaia.

Finally, elkarrekin, the coalition formed by Podemos, Ezker Anitza-IU, Berdeak Equo and Alianza Verde, has obtained 7% of the votes, losing 4 seats and remaining with only 2 representatives in the General Meetings of Bizkaia.
