The Socialist Party prevails in Vitoria-Gasteiz, San Sebastián and Bilbao

The electoral results in the Basque Country reflect a resounding victory for the PSOE in the main cities, while the PP dominates in Pamplona

The Socialist Party has achieved a resounding victory in Vitoria-Gasteiz, obtaining 30,9% of the votes. This figure places them far ahead of the Popular Party, which obtained 19,6% of the votes. The third force in the capital of Alava is EH Bildu with 18,4%, while the PNV occupies fourth place with 12,7%. The Vox, Sumar and Podemos parties close the list with 4,3%, 4,1% and 3,9% respectively.

Comparing these results with those of 2019, the socialists have maintained their electorate. On the other hand, both the PP and Vox have improved their results. EH Bildu has lost just over a thousand votes, going from 18 in 267 to 2019 in 17. The PNV has seen a significant drop in its support, from more than 239 votes four years ago to 2024 in this election.

The panorama in Donostia-San Sebastián

In Donostia-San Sebastián, the PSOE It rises as the first force with 27,4% of the votes, closely followed by EH Bildu with 23,8%. The PNV is placed in third place with 17,7%, while the PP reaches fourth position with 15% of the votes. The Podemos, Sumar and Vox parties are far behind in terms of popular support.

In terms of ballots, both the PSOE and EH Bildu have maintained their voter base in Donostia. However, the PNV has lost almost half of its support, while the PP has improved notably, increasing their votes from 7 four years ago to 649 today.

Bilbao also turns socialist red

In Bilbao, the socialists have won with 27,6% of the votes. They are followed by the PNV with 23,15% of the support. EH Bildu occupies third place with 16,5% and the PP is in fourth position with 15,6% of the votes.

Compared to 2019, the PSOE has added 5 more votes. On the other hand, the PNV has lost half of the support it had four years ago. EH Bildu has maintained its electorate, while the PP has improved significantly, winning 6 more votes than in the previous election.

Pamplona leans towards the Popular Party

Finally, the PP has won the elections in Pamplona with 30,7% of the votes, sfollowed by the PSOE with 26,2% and EH Bildu with 18,7%. The Vox, Sumar and Podemos parties were far behind in this contest.

These results represent a significant change in the political landscape of these cities, highlighting the capacity of the PSOE to consolidate its position in the Basque Country and the strength of the PP in Pamplona.
