In a day that will remain to be remembered, the Bilbao museum has been the lucky recipient of an unprecedented donation: 110 photographs belonging to the renowned Ordóñez-Falcón Collection. We are talking about one of the most prestigious and complete private photography and video creation compilations in Europe.

A Journey Through Time and Art

The collection covers an extensive period, ranging from 1850 to 2010. Among the jewels that now reside in Bilbao, "Katamalo" (2010) stands out, a work composed of 12 charcoal drawings by the talented Alain Urrutia.

Enrique Ordóñez and Isabel Falcón, visionaries and art enthusiasts, started this collection at the end of the last century with a clear objective: to share these visual wonders with the public. Today, the collection has expanded to nearly two thousand images, many of them period originals.

More than a Donation: A Legacy

This generous contribution further enriches the more than a thousand pieces that already embellish the Tenerife Space of the Arts. But the Bilbao museum is not unknown to the Ordóñez-Falcón Collection; Their relationship dates back to 2007, when he received 61 photographs in deposit.

The new acquisitions They not only expand the chronology of the existing collection but also integrate Basque and Latin American photographers, thus adding diversity and richness to the collection.

The images are a faithful reflection of the evolution of photography over the centuries, covering a wide range of subjects: from landscapes and portraits to nudes, still lifes, everyday and scientific scenes. There is also space for travel photographs, monuments and documentaries.

A Treasure for Bilbao and the World

Generosity and Commitment: This donation, beyond its monetary value, is an act of generosity and commitment to culture and art on the part of Enrique Ordóñez and Isabel Falcón. It is an investment in collective memory and the preservation of our visual legacy.

Documenting Society and its Evolution: Photographs are a key testimony to understanding the evolution of bourgeois society, the development of photography as an industry, its influence on our perception of the world and its crucial role in the preservation of our historical memory.

A Jewel in the Heart of Bilbao

Today, Bilbao has not only received a donation; It has welcomed a treasure, a window to the past and a commitment to the future. The Ordóñez-Falcón Collection is now part of the city's heritage, and with this, it invites us to immerse ourselves in history, reflect and marvel at the beauty and power of photography. Welcome home, Ordóñez-Falcón Collection! Bilbao welcomes you with open arms and a heart full of gratitude.
