The Artistic Director of the Arriaga Theater, Calixto Bieito, presented this morning the show programming for the 2024-2025 season. This season will run from August 2024 to June 2025, both months included. Although the news announced today refers to what will come from mid-September, the star show of the summer and Aste Nagusia programming is already known: the musical The Phantom of the Opera, which will be on display from August 14 to September 15.

Bet on the local scene and own production

The new programming continues to focus on the local scene, in addition to exhibiting the best theater made in Spain and maintaining the good positioning of the Arriaga Theater in the international sphere. The staging of new own productions will be one of the fundamental pillars of the Arriaga Theater.

Own production: The glass zoo

The great theater production itself will be Kristalezko zooa (in Basque) or The glass zoo (in Spanish). Under the stage direction of the prestigious author and director Natalia Menéndez, the Arriaga Theater will undertake its next theatrical project with this work. This new production will premiere first in Basque, from March 21 to 23, 2025, and later in Spanish, from April 3 to 6. The cast includes Mikel Losada, Ione Irazabal, Miren Gaztañaga and Arnatz Puertas.

Zarzuela returns

The great lyrical production of the next season brings the Zarzuela back to the Teatro Arriaga, with Mari-Eli, by Jesús Guridi, under the direction of Calixto Bieito. This show will premiere on April 30 and May 1, 2025, and symbolizes a musicological recovery of the first order.

This year, the Arriaga Theater intensifies its commitment to young audiences, reinforcing the figure of Friend Gaztea (from 16 to 30 years old) within the Friends of Arriaga program, providing it with new advantages. A limited number of tickets will be sold at 5 euros exclusively at the box office for the indicated shows.
