The legendary post-punk group The Psychedelic Furs, led by iconic vocalist Richard Butler, returns to Bilbao after more than thirty years. The band, known for hits such as "The Ghost in You", "Pretty in Pink" and "India", will perform on September 12 at the Kafe Antzokia, as part of a tour that will also include stops in Seville, Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona.

The long-awaited return of an iconic band

Formed by the Butler brothers, Richard and Tim, along with guitarist John Aston, The Psychedelic Furs have marked the history of rock with their dark, psychedelic and romantic style. Their discography includes eight studio albums, several compilations and one live album. After a hiatus of almost thirty years, the band released Made Of Rain in 2020, their second best-selling album in the UK, cementing their return to the music scene.

The Psychedelic Furs' music has influenced numerous artists, including David Bowie, The Strokes y REM. Their sound has evolved from dark art rock to new wave pop, always maintaining high quality and emotion in their productions.

A tour full of nostalgia and new successes

The tour promises to be a tour of their greatest hits, including "India", "Pretty in Pink", "Mr. Jones”, “Heartbreak Beat” and “Heaven”, in addition to presenting new songs such as “The Boy Invented Rock & Roll” and “Wrong Train”. Although the group's current lineup does not include saxophone, the Butler brothers continue to lead the band, now accompanied by Rico Good on the guitar, Amanda Kramer on keyboards and Zachary Alford in the battery.

Richard Butler's reflections on the return

Richard Butler, still in great shape at 67, reflected on the band's return, mentioning that although it took them 25 years to decide to return, the process of creating new songs was natural. Their return has not only been well received by their longtime fans, but has also captured the attention of a new generation of post-punk and alternative rock fans.

Ticket sales for the concert in Bilbao began on May 14, and a large turnout is expected, given The Psychedelic Furs' legacy and lasting influence on music.
