Amorebieta continues to dream of staying in the Second Division for another season after beating Tenerife at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López. A goal by Iker Unzueta from the penalty spot renews the hopes of the blues, who are now just one point away from salvation, currently marked by Mirandés.

A decisive goal and an emotional tribute: Amorebieta advances towards salvation

The match was not only significant for the result, but also for the emotional tribute to Félix Garreta by Tenerife. The chicharreros handed out a t-shirt with the message “Strength, Félix!” signed by all members of the staff. Unzueta's goal, in addition to being crucial for Amorebieta, was dedicated to Barcelona's Félix, who was present in the stadium.

The meeting began with intensity. In the 2nd minute, Dani Lasure tried to surprise Tomeu Nadal with a long-distance shot that hit the crossbar. As the match progressed, the pace fell until Tete, after a brilliant dribble, went one-on-one with Jonmi, who was immense to avoid the tie. Shortly before the break, a cross from Eneko Jauregi allowed Unzueta to finish something centered, worrying Nadal. However, the score did not move in the first 45 minutes.

Great start after the break: Amorebieta finds fortune in the VAR

As happened last weekend against Villarreal B, Amorebieta jumped with rhythm in the second half and found fortune again in the form of a referee decision. The VAR had to intervene a few minutes after the game resumed to signal a maximum penalty for a handball by Enric Gallego. Unzueta took responsibility and did not miss with a low shot. During the second half, Amorebieta had options to increase the score in counterattack actions, but poor decisions at key moments led the team to suffer until the last moment. In fact, the Tenerife's clearest chance came in stoppage time with a shot against the post by Roberto López.

License to dream: The blues one point away from salvation

The blues are now one point away from salvation and the results that have been given so far serve to be optimistic about a possible permanence in the category. Amorebieta could depend on itself if Alcorcón does not win against Real Valladolid in the duel between them this Sunday. The Zornotzarras will have two key dates against Espanyol and against Mirandés that will decide the future of the blue team.
