San Mamés hosts women's football day in a unique celebration

The Vizcaya Football Federation and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia organize a massive event to promote women's football in Bizkaia

The San Mamés esplanade will be the scene this Sunday of a great celebration of women's football. From 10.00:14.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., the Vizcaya Football Federation, with the support of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, will carry out 'Women's Football Day'. This event is aimed at children and, especially, girls from Bizkaia, regardless of whether they are soccer players or not. A thousand participants are expected to attend, which promises to be an unforgettable day.

An event supported by great institutions and figures of women's football

The Vizcaya Football Federation, with the support of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Athletic Club Foundation and Rural Kutxa, has organized this great festival of women's football in Bizkaia. The event is part of the promotion of women's grassroots football in the territory, taking advantage of the proximity of the 2024 UEFA Women's Champions League Final, which will be held in Bilbao on Saturday, May 25.

The Federation has announced the details of Women's Football Day in a colloquium talk that was attended by important personalities of women's football. Among them, the coach and former red and white player Iraia Iturregi, the also former player Janire Beitia, the Biscayan referee Ane Miren Fuentes, and the Athletic Club players Clara Pinedo and Sara Ortega, who have been world champions in lower categories, stand out. In addition, more than two hundred school players from women's football clubs, ikastolas and schools from all over Bizkaia were present at the event.

Varied activities and inclusive spaces for all participants

During the day of May 19, people who go to the San Mamés esplanade will be able to enjoy various and varied activities. Among others, they will be able to participate in a human table football, inflatable goal, Maracaná field and inflatable fields. There will also be a photocall, makeup workshop and the special activity known as 'El Conquis'. In addition, the Adapted Sports Federation of Euskadi will have a space to carry out various activities and training of an inclusive nature, promoting the use of Basque in sports.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia will also have a stand where the BIKEE project will be made visible. This project seeks to promote and normalize the use of Basque in the sports field of Bizkaia. Hundreds of t-shirts, backpacks, ecological bottles and balls, among others, will be distributed among all the people participating in the different scheduled activities.

An event that promotes gender equality in sport

The entire day will be enlivened with background music and a facilitator. Different personalities from the field of sports, culture and politics of Bizkaia will be present, supporting this initiative. The 'Emakumezkoen Futbola, Elkarrekin Goaz' campaign seeks to promote gender equality in sport, highlighting the importance of providing equal opportunities to women and men in football. In addition, the initiative aims to increase the number of women's licenses and clubs in the next season, encourage the use of Basque and create an inclusive environment that encourages more women to get involved in football at all levels.
