Athletic Club has intensified the recruitment of talent from the Real Sociedad youth academy, a strategy that reflects its ambition to strengthen its squad to compete at the highest level in LaLiga in the coming years. This policy has been clearly manifested with the acquisitions of players such as Javi Martón and Alex Petxarroman, and is expected to continue with the incorporation of Ekain Azkune.

javi marton, who joined Athletic after ending his contract with Real Sociedad, remains linked to Sanse until he is 24 years old. Unfortunately, his transition has not been ideal, as he suffered a serious fibula injury during his loan spell at Mirandés, putting his future with the rojiblanco club in doubt.

Alex Petxarroman, on the other hand, joined Athletic a season before Martón, but his time with the team has not been successful and he currently plays for FC Andorra.

Next season will see the arrival of Ekain Azkune, top scorer for the Real Sociedad subsidiary, whose contract expires on June 30. Due to the regulations that prevent players over 23 years of age registered in the reserve team from participating in the first team, Azkune could begin his time at Athletic playing for Bilbao Athletic, unless an alternative such as a loan is sought.

Athletic is also interested in Andoni Gorosabel, who after his time at Alavés could join the red and white ranks in the 2023-2024 season, especially considering the possible retirement of Óscar de Marcos at the end of the season.

In addition, Robert navarro, currently on loan at Cádiz and whose contract with Real Sociedad ends in 2025, is another of the players that Athletic has in its sights.

This approach not only seeks to bolster Athletic with proven talent, but also appears to be a deliberate strategy to weaken a direct rival and strengthen its own ranks, preparing the club to compete more effectively in LaLiga and other major competitions.
