In news expected by Athletic Club fans, Yeray Álvarez, the Barakaldo centre-back, returns to the squad for the next match against Granada, after recovering from a muscle injury suffered at the Santiago Bernabéu. Along with him, Íñigo Ruiz de Galarreta also rejoins, who served his suspension during the last match. This return strengthens the squad that Ernesto Valverde, the team's coach, will be able to field tomorrow in San Mamés.

Yeray injured the adductor longus in his left leg in a recent match at the Real Madrid stadium, which caused him to miss the game against Villarreal. His recovery is excellent news for the team, especially at a time when Athletic seeks to consolidate its position in the League with a view to qualifying for European competitions next season.

The inclusion of Galarreta, absent in the last game due to an accumulation of cards, is also vital given his central role in the team's midfield. His vision of the game and ability to distribute the ball are elements that Valverde will be eager to reincorporate into his tactical scheme.

During the pre-game press conference, Valverde admitted that, although there were some concerns about discomfort in other players, finally all the members of the first team have been called up. This includes key figures such as Unai Simón, Iñaki Williams, and captain Iker Muniain, among others.

Complete Call and Strategies for the Match

The complete list to face Granada includes:

  • Goalkeepers: Unai Simón, Agirrezabala
  • Defenses: Vivian, Paredes, Yeray, Lekue, Yuri, De Marcos, Imanol
  • Midfielders: Vesga, Berenguer, Sancet, Dani García, Ruiz de Galarreta, Ander Herrera, Unai Gómez
  • Forwards: Iñaki Williams, Muniain, Nico Williams, Guruzeta, Villalibre, Raúl García, Adu Ares, Prados

Valverde must make a discard before the match to comply with the League's regulations, which allow a maximum of 23 players in the official call for each match. This tactical decision will be crucial, given that each player brings different strengths depending on the game plan and strategy the coach wishes to employ against Granada.
