Pello Bilbao wins the fourth stage of the Tour of Slovenia

A strategic victory that places him second overall

Pello Bilbao, from the Bahrain-Victorious team, has won the fourth and penultimate stage of the Tour of Slovenia, a day held between Skofljica and Krvavec, with a route of 147,2 km. The Basque cyclist, originally from Gernika-Lumo (Bizkaia), managed to cross the finish line with a three-second advantage over his closest pursuers.

The fight for the stage and the general classification

Bilbao stood out in the final kilometers, overtaking Paul Double (Polti Kometa), overall leader Giovanni Aleotti (BORA-hansgrohe), Giulio Pellizzari (VF Group-Bardiani CFS-Faizane) and Domenico Pozzovivo (VF Group-Bardiani CFS -Faizane). With this result, Bilbao not only won the stage, but also rose to second place in the general classification.

Mikel Bizkarra, another Basque cyclist from the Euskaltel-Euskadi team, finished in 11th position in the stage, demonstrating the good level of the Basque riders in this competition.

With one stage left until the conclusion of the Tour of Slovenia, Giovanni Aleotti maintains the lead with 12 seconds ahead of Pello Bilbao. Domenico Pozzovivo and Giulio Pellizzari occupy third and fourth place, respectively, both 25 seconds behind the leader.
