Athletic Fem: Sopela celebrates Oihane Hernández in the World Cup pre-list

Women's football continues to gain ground on the global sports scene and one of its new emerging figures, Oihane Hernandez, is ready to make the leap to the elite. The Sopela full-back, currently wearing the red and white Athletic shirt, has been included in the coach Jorge Vilda's shortlist for the next World Cup to be played in Australia and New Zealand.

The young Hernández has passed the first screening and is now in the group of 30 selected footballers. Her skill and prowess in her field have catapulted her into the shortlist, becoming the only Athletic player on Vilda's list.

The preselected group has a rally ahead in Benidorm from June 19 to 23. Later, they will travel to Asturias to play a friendly against Panama at the Román Suárez Puerta de Avilés stadium.

Finally, the list will be reduced to 23 footballers on June 30. Preparations for the World Cup will continue with a second friendly, this time against Denmark in Copenhagen. From there, the team will leave for New Zealand, where they will debut in the world championship on July 21 against Costa Rica.
