Bilbao Fantastic Film Festival – FANT returns with the Invisible Man as the protagonist

The 29th edition of the FANT festival will have a varied program and will pay tribute to Belén Rueda, Zorion Eguileor and Paco Plaza.

The Fantastic Film Festival (FANT), organized by the Bilbao City Council, will hold its 29th edition from May 5 to 13. The festival program was presented at a press conference in which Justo Ezenarro, director of FANT, and Eugenio Puerto, programmer, revealed all the details.

FANT has already been warming up with the projections framed in its PreFANT cycle and with different parallel activities. However the Friday May 5 will kick off its new edition with a gala to be held at the Teatro Campos Elíseos.

Opening screening and closing gala

At the inaugural event, the feature film «The fantastic case of the Golem«, directed by Burnin' Percebes (Nando Martínez and Juan González) and starring Brays Efe, Bruna Cusí and Javier Botet. It is a fantastic hooligan comedy that mixes the darkest and lightest humor.

El Friday May 12 the closing gala of FANT will be held in the Sala BBK, where the Estrella del Fantástico award, the Festival's main award, will be awarded, which on this occasion will go to Bethlehem Wheel, leading actress in films such as "El Orfanato" or "Los Ojos de Julia".

Tributes to Zorion Eguileor and Paco Plaza

Added to these awards this year are also the FANT de Honor that will be awarded to two big names in state cinema: Zorion Eguileor, Basque actor, musician and broadcaster with a long career, and the director Paco Square.

Official Section and short films

The Official Section of the FANT contest stands out one more year for its varied programming. The selection will have 17 movies, all of them premiered in Bilbao. In addition, in this 29th edition, short films will have a great weight in the programming, with a total of 30 proposals. Among others, 11 short films signed by Basque filmmakers will be screened in the FANT Laburrean section.

The Invisible Man and "The Exorcist"

The Festival, which this year has the myth of Invisible Man As the axis and protagonist of his poster, he will once again take to the big screen «The Exorcist", by William Friedkin, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.
