From local awareness to global action, Urduliz stands out in marine care

The importance of taking care of our seas and oceans is the focus of the first Urez Ur Fest in Urduliz, an event aimed at educating and raising awareness to the community about marine conservation. Since the beginning of this week, Urduliz has become the epicenter of environmental awareness with the inauguration of the first Urez Ur Fest. This festival, promoted by the NGO Tantak with the support of the local City Council, will take place in the town's House of Culture and will have an agenda full of activities until next Sunday.

The Urez Ur Fest program is extensive and varied, designed to attract a wide range of ages and profiles. On Saturday and Sunday, from 17:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m., there will be talks and documentary screenings that promise to take attendees on a journey through the most remote and amazing corners of the ocean.. Stories of expeditions in Antarctica or lush Polynesia will be intertwined with fascinating facts about marine biodiversity, from microscopic plankton to the majestic whales that migrate through the Cantabrian Sea.

In addition to the conferences, the festival offers environmental education workshops for more than 300 local schoolchildren, which underlines Tantak's commitment to education as a fundamental pillar for change. The young people of the Elortza School will have the opportunity to learn about the challenges facing our sea and strategies to mitigate its impact.

One of the most innovative proposals of the festival is the virtual diving experience

This activity allows participants to explore the Atlantic Ocean through virtual reality glasses, offering a unique and accessible perspective of the underwater environment. This activity is especially designed to include people with special needs or those who, for different reasons, cannot physically dive in the sea.

The event is not only a platform for education and awareness, but also a cultural meeting space. During the festival, you can visit a photography exhibition that has 25 works by renowned national and international photographers.. The images, which will be on display until the 28th, tell powerful stories about life in the sea, highlighting the beauty and fragility of our marine ecosystems.

The public response has been overwhelmingly positive, with the auditorium filling up quickly. The festival has proven to be a meeting point for those interested in the environment and marine conservation, providing a space for dialogue and collective learning.

Urez Ur Fest is not just an event, but a movement towards a more sustainable future

As the first edition of this festival closes, it is clear that the Urez Ur Fest has laid the foundations to become an annual benchmark in the cultural and environmental agenda of Urduliz. With the vision and effort of organizers, collaborators and participants, this festival promises to continue growing and strengthening awareness about the vital importance of caring for our seas and oceans for future generations.
